What's Happening Now- GoodWorx Programming for 2008-2009
The GoodWorx Foundation’s MTC Program expanded into a
second school, The Samsel Upper Elementary School, within the Sayreville School district
in October 2008. Lead by Program Director Rachel DiGiacomo, the MTC Program now
serves 4th and 5th grade students in
Sayreville
with mentoring, tutoring, life-skills coaching, and team orientated recreation.
Students are embracing the approach and building a culture within the program.
Rachel DiGiacomo offers "The students are starting to understand what we mean
when talk about life-skills. Awareness is our number one objective. Our program
builds upon that awareness and tries to reach every student within their own
reality or level of understanding." The MTC Program also contains a strong
Community Service component which introduces, or further reinforces what they
are learning in school, about service to others. Other Programs of distinction
include the "Imagine That" Art Appreciation Program, The "Onward and Upward"
Program, which consists of programming centered on transitional issues facing 5th
and 8th graders as they prepare for their move to the next level of
schooling, The "Read Something" literacy program, which promotes enjoyable
reading for children and their families, and The GoodWorx Gang Prevention
initiative which promotes real-world awareness of gang activity and provides
alternative ways of dealing with that reality.

Based on the success of the GoodWorx MTC Program at the Samsel Upper Elementary School in Sayreville, New Jersey, The GoodWorx MTC After-School Program has expanded by offering registration to an additional 50 students from the 4th and 5th grades.

Our MTC (Mentoring, Tutoring, and Life-Skills Coaching) Philosophy has a concentration in building Leadership abilities in ALL children.
TEAM GoodWorx is growing. Our mission is to inspire positive choices today so that our future leaders have more options tomorrow.

Our GoodWorx MTC After-School Program Community Service component allows students to enjoy the opportunity of providing service to others.

Students and Mentors alike recently participated in the "Read Across America" campaign and spent the afternoon reading with seniors at the Briarwood Care and Rehabilitation Center.

GoodWorx MTC After-School Program participants dressed as their favorite characters and delivered wonderful stories from their favorite books.
The GoodWorx Foundation MTC Program has entered the 3rd
year of a programming partnership with New Jersey City
University. The
partnership is a collaborative effort to support the NCAA CHAMPS Life Skills
Program at NJCU. GoodWorx provides Mentoring and Life-Skills coaching to over
100 Student-Athletes in an effort to enrich the undergraduate experience and
improve overall retention rates. This initiative has proven to be very
successful in the pilot program and the 2 full years of operation. NJCU and The
GoodWorx Foundation have recommitted to lead this program into the future and
attempt to service 250 student-athletes within 3 years.
